Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who is passionate about providing excellent care and services for people who live with Parkinson's and Headache.

You will have significant post registration experience, and knowledge of Parkinson's and Headache as well as a willingness to learn and a positive ‘can do attitude.’ Working within a multi-professional environment, the role will challenge you to push forward, be an innovator in your field and act as a role model for standards of care through clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

You will be the professional clinical link between all areas of care for individuals with Parkinson's/Headache and provide care and support for patients from diagnosis through to ongoing treatment and care. You will provide excellent teaching experience and the chance to contribute to local clinical networks. As a Trust we are committed to the development of our staff and will offer you thorough training and support.

Dedicated Parkinson's/Headache experience is preferred but candidates willing to evolve their skills will be considered

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in looking after neurological and/or other long term conditions as Band 6
  • Experience of formal/informal teaching.
  • Experience where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
  • Ability to deal with complex patient including symptom control, discharge planning and psychological support
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and critical thinking

Desirable

  • Experience in looking after neurological and/or other long- term conditions

Other Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates leadership skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to share ideas, information and feedback in order to empower patient and all levels of staff in the clinical directorate
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations due workload and colleagues’ needs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse-Adult with Current NMC registration
  • Advanced communication skills/counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Post registration qualification in speciality

Desirable

  • Masters Degree
