The University College London Hospitals NHS Trust Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes Service
Our multidisciplinary diabetes team provides a service for Children and Young People (CYP) aged 0-19 years, incoprorating specific paediatric, adolescent and young adult clincs. Our current service has an excellent reputation, with some of the best clinical and patient reported outcomes nationally. We have a large catchment across London and Southeast England where patients/families have chosen to transfer their care to us.
We are looking for a Band 7 (1.0 WTE) Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our existing team.
Main duties of the job
We require a Paediatric Nurse with proven experience in delivering paediatric and adolescent diabetes care, including at least one year working as a paediatric diabetes specialist nurse at Band 6 level. You will be enthusiastic about improving standards of diabetes care; have experience of supporting CYP with diabetes technology including Hybrid Closed Loop pumps; have excellent communication skills and an ability to work both autonomously and in collaboration with other professionals.

Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience nursing children and young people e.g. experience working on a children’s ward
- Experience working as a specialist diabetes nurse (minimum one year at band 6 level)
- Leadership and management experience
- Demonstrates expertise in using diabetes technology
- Experience of working with a diverse multidisciplinary team
Communication
Essential
- Communication Ability to communicate effectively with different disciplines within an MDT
- Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
- Presentation skills
Skills and Abilities

- Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in a multidisciplinary environment.

Knowledge and Qualifications

- Registered Nurse Child Branch
- First level registration with NMC
- Teaching/Assessment programme
- Educated to degree level or equivalent

- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Completed/completing Master’s Degree/ module with specific diabetes component

- Demonstrates evidence of up-to-date professional development
