Are you a band 7 Dermatology CNS looking for new challenges or experienced band 6 Dermatology CNS looking to develop your career further? We have an exciting opportunity for you at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust. Post holder would be required to work on both sites, with main base being at St Helier Hospital.

We are looking for an experienced Dermatology nurse to cover the inflammatory service; you would be running independent nurse prescribing clinics for our isotretinoin, systemic and biologics patients. We provide a large range of services with a small but expanding team, so any experience in other areas of Dermatology would also be beneficial.

Through your expert knowledge of the field you will play a key role in ensuring that the dermatology patients receive the highest standard of evidence-based care and support through planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of the service. You will also be involved in service development and educational activities, and ensuring Trust objectives and targets are met.

This post requires you to be committed, organised and an excellent communicator. You must be able to manage your own time effectively and work as part of a team, as you will be managing patients in your own clinic sessions and participating in patient reviews and presentations with members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Lead and develop nurse-led clinics for patients with eczema, psoriasis, acne, and other chronic skin conditions.

Provide expert advice, counselling, and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Undertake systemic drug monitoring, including biologics, methotrexate, ciclosporin, and isotretinoin.

Independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients in nurse-led clinics.

Support and educate junior colleagues, acting as a mentor and role model.

Participate in service development, clinical audits, and research initiatives to improve dermatology care.

Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and attend MDT meetings to ensure coordinated care.

Act as a non-medical prescriber.

knowledge

Essential

  • Up to date knowledge of nursing initiatives and department of health improvement schemes.
  • Ability to work autonomously without direct supervision and make decisions independently

Desirable

  • Competent in methods of obtaining patient feedback
  • Ability to motivate members of a team.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience at Band 6 or above in the speciality
  • Experience of working in psoriasis, eczema and acne clinics using systemic medications and topical therapies.

Desirable

  • Experience in setting up/ running nurse-led clinics
  • xperience of patient and user involvement.
