We are a looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and inspiring senior nurse with experience in Paediatric Complex Epilepsy to join our team. This is a specialist role with strong focus on the management of children and young people with a diagnosis of complex epilepsy undergoing medication , ketogenic diet therapies , as well as supporting transition from Paediatric to adult epilepsy services You should have an in-depth understanding of the delivery of safe and high –quality care, as well as supporting and driving quality improvement across the neuroscience unit. You will be visible and accessible, act as a role model and hold responsibility to contribute to high quality epilepsy inpatient and outpatient care delivery. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the delivery high quality , evidence based care to children with complex epilepsy They will take responsibility for a defined caseload at GOSH within the Complex Epilepsy including ketogenic diet and transition, working in conjunction with the Epilepsy CNS team , Neurologists Specialist dieticians and ACP for Epilepsy Surgery ensuring continuity of quality service to young people under our care. The role combines clinical expertise, education , service development and leadership to improve patient outcomes and experience
Main duties of the job
- Take responsibility for a defined caseload of children and families incorporating a care co-ordination remit as agreed
- Provide effective nursing leadership, expertise, advice and support to the team / department and ensure the provision of high quality care to children and families
- Act as a role model and highly competent practitioner
- Act as a designated resource to children and families, and other shared care professionals
- Provide nursing leadership to develop, deliver and evaluate services
- Support the effective management of patient activity throughout the care pathway with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
- Complete workload activity recording in line with Trust Policy
- Ensure that all staff caring for children in the caseload have up to date clinical skills knowledge and competence
- Foster environments conducive to learning, inquiry, and research and to support the identification of the training and development needs of nursing staff / learners in the department.

- Sufficient experience at band 6 level or equivalent, including within relevant clinical environment

- Expert knowledge relevant to the speciality/field or practice
