An exciting opportunity has arisen, to join the iCaSH Bedfordshire Senior Leadership as a Clinical Nurse Manager on a fixed term basis covering maternity leave.
Hours to be worked across the week and will be between 9-5, may include some evening working. Will also include travel across two clinics in Bedfordshire. Open to discussion about hours and/or job share.
You will play a leading role in the operational and clinical development of the iCaSH services across Bedfordshire.
The role of the Clinical Nurse Manager provides operational management to the identified iCaSH service, whilst ensuring robust senior clinical leadership and direction for the team, working in conjunction with the iCaSH Bedfordshire Service Manager and local Senior Leadership team.
Day to day operational management and delivery of the iCaSH Service within identified locality hub.
Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the integrated iCaSH Services against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deputise for Service Manager if/when required.
Lead in the development of new services including highly specialised areas and provide line management and support to the staff within the identified locality.
Act as a representative for the iCaSH Service in relevant forums.

To hold accreditation or equivalent, to fit contraceptive implants and intra-uterine devices if working as a member of the Reproductive Health clinical team and/or be accredited to British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation (STIF), Level 2 Competency Training or equivalent if working as a member of the Sexual Health clinical team

Provide a cervical screening service in line with the National Screening Programme
To develop a strong, cohesive and collaborative day to day working relationship with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) Manager (where SARC services are associated with the Hub or locality) and to support and deputise for the SARC Manager as required and appropriate, only where services are associated with the Hub
To work with and support the Service Manager and Head of iCaSH in the development and improvement of service delivery.
To deputise for the Service Manager when appropriate and necessary. To work with the Service Manager and Lead Clinician to co-ordinate and provide Clinical and Managerial Supervision within the iCaSH Service
To independently assess, plan and evaluate programmes of client care using Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification. If you have a non-medical prescribing qualification, you will be expected to practice as a prescriber as part of this role
To provide information to patients regarding STIs and HIV regarding transmission, diagnosis and treatment and demonstrate competence in undertaking full sexual health screens for males, females, trans and non-binary patients, in routine as well as complex clinical cases.
To assess and plan treatment for appropriate patients, ensuring the provision of appropriate information to patients regarding treatments and compliance issues. Access supervision from senior clinical staff as and when required, demonstrating a clear and high level of awareness of competencies
To deliver and explain results to patients, identifying and utilising the opportunity to deliver information to enable and support clients in improving their lifestyle and healthcare choices as appropriate
To initiate the Partner Notification process with clients who have a diagnosed STI as required
To recognise when a clinical situation is outside of his/her area of expertise and refer to a senior clinician or to an alternative provider when appropriate and necessary. (ie: Termination Services, Psychology Services, Safeguarding)
To provide pre and post-test discussion for blood borne viruses if required within the clinical team, showing excellent risk assessment skills, onward referral as clinically indicated. To provide Partner Notification and STI vaccination programme as required.
To be responsible for the co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of planned care
To develop and implement pathways to ensure complex clients receive their onward care within an appropriate time frame
To use the electronic patient database competently and efficiently for all aspects of patient care and operational day to day clinical management
To maintain client confidentiality at all times
To lead on the development of the iCaSH Services, managing publicity and information material and representing the iCaSH Services at external events and conferences as required
To liaise with and co-ordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective service delivery as appropriate
Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with the designated management accountant within East of England Health and Care Community Trust (EEC)
To undertake the role of Project Manager within identified pieces of work as necessary and required
To take an active role in the Clinical Governance procedures of the service, producing, and implementing policies which directly influence improved client care and sexual health targets
Communication
To provide an effective interface between the iCaSH service and all its partners and stakeholders.
To promote and develop awareness in order to publicise the scope and delivery of this specialist service through talks, presentations and media contact if required.
To communicate, empathise and reassure patients and their families and/or carers, and staff providing telephone and face-to-face support, advice and information
Develop and maintain networks and communications with other appropriate services and organisations and stakeholders
To produce written documentation and reports regarding technical and moderately complex subjects relating to clinical provision, performance, governance and other service related activity and innovations
To attend relevant meetings and liaise with colleagues and other professionals both within and outside of EEC, building strong working relationships to support the delivery of services to patients
To utilise highly developed emotional intelligence, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with all patients and visitors attending the service and colleagues, stakeholders and partnership colleagues
To provide health promotion and disease prevention services promoting sexual health equalities and strategies to reduce risk taking behaviour
To communicate the health status of patients, using appropriate terminology, format and technology.
Enable communication of complex issues and share sensitive and highly personal information following Trust and National data sharing guidance and legislation
Communicate across cognitive, language and cultural barriers with patient groups, asylum seekers and clients with physical or learning disabilities, or identified vulnerabilities), in partnership with available and relevant resources (i.e. interpreting)
To communicate sensitively with clients, empathising and empowering as appropriate, often dealing with sensitive or unwelcome news such as an STI or HIV diagnosis or an unplanned pregnancy
To work with young people in accordance with the safeguarding of children principles and to work with all vulnerable adults within safeguarding principles
To establish and maintain effective communication with the Head of Service, Service Manager, Medical and Nursing Staff, Administration Staff, Allied Health Professionals, patients and relatives (where appropriated or consented), stakeholders and partner and/or external agencies
To liaise effectively with all other disciplines within iCaSH, the wider EEC corporate and clinical teams at local and corporate level
Budgetary Responsibility
Authorised signatory for the iCaSH locality service; to include clinical and stock supplies, staff timesheets and recruitment change forms
Support the Service Manager within the county as budget holder, ensuring that budgetary controls are adhered to
To be responsible for maintaining the required levels of drugs, supplies and stationery within the iCaSH Department
To be responsible for the security of drugs and supplies within the department
People Management
Responsible for day-to-day supervision and management of staff within the hub locality, including managerial supervision, appraisal and professional development
Responsible as a line management of an identified group of staff Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in the Trust’s appraisal process
To support and mentor new staff and students as required
Participate in the orientation, training, education and development of iCaSH staff, students and for stakeholders and partner agencies if required, fostering collaborative partnerships with all disciplines of staff
To clinically support the service and team members, providing senior clinical leadership and advice when required
To lead on and participate in all aspects of recruitment within the hub locality, including budgetary planning, adverts, interviewing and recruitment of iCaSH staff
To investigate complaints in relation to the service and provide accurate and thorough reports, summaries and statements as required To provide professional leadership, advice and guidance to staff within the service
To work with the Service Manager to ensure that teaching programmes are in place for all nursing staff and actively participate in teaching and training
Research & Development Activity
Initiate and participate formally and informally in research projects in order to improve or evaluate care as agreed by the Service Manager and/or Clinical Lead
Ensure the iCaSH Audit plan is disseminated throughout the hub team and is running to plan. Participate in relevant audits and work with the iCaSH team to implement action plans developed from audit
Develop and maintain an evidence based approach to all nursing practice within the iCaSH department, ensuring that nursing staff develop research awareness skills
