Job overview

The post holder will deliver both clinical/technical related education and training. This will take place: -  within education centres in a formal classroom setting or virtual classroom. - within an operational environment where there will be patient interaction. - in external environments to support partner education programmes.

The post holder will deliver these activities, as scheduled to meet the demands of the agreed training plan, including the monitoring and mentoring of all learner activities. The post holder will be actively involved in promoting best practice across the service whilst maintaining compliance with local and national policies and standards. Delivering appropriate operational managerial duties as required by CE&S. The post holder will lead on the development, delivery and implementation of all SEND teaching, learning and support, including other barriers to learning. The post holder will support the implementation of learner centred support processes and mechanisms.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of effective education and training in line with the departmental Training Plan. Supporting clinical staff in their professional development whilst promoting best practice across the service to maintain and improve high standards of patient care. Remain clinically and occupationally competent in line with LAS / HCPC requirements. Responsible for the preparation, planning and delivery of theory and practice-based training sessions in accordance with the objectives prescribed within the agreed course programmes. Contribute to stimulating and improving motivation within a team. Maintain quality assurance within the department by analysing the outcomes from education and training activities delivered locally and proposing amendments at the standardisation meetings. Maintain responsibility for own personal development plan. Attending training courses, seminars, meetings or other events as agreed with line Manager. Provide efficient, responsive and professional inclusive support to learners, tutors and managers.  Work closely with the programmes and curriculum team to ensure screening and support activities relating to SEND and other barriers to learning are included in the curriculum. Effective sign posting utilising a wide range of available informal and formal support services. Review and improve the handover process by which learners’ needs are shared with key stakeholders. Provide SEND training and support for CE&S staff.

CE&S are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a  background in education. They will lead on the development, delivery and implementation of all SEND teaching, learning and support, including other barriers to learning.

Essential

  • Current relevant clinical qualification with two years’ experience
  • Experience of supporting learners with a range of support needs including learning, personal, social, emotional and behavioural
  • Experience in teaching / education
  • Developing staff within a team context
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring staff

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Ambulance Tutor or equivalent (Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training / relevant PG Cert etc)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent, or ability to complete
  • Appropriate specialist qualification (or commitment to obtain and complete within a defined timeframe)
  • Fully qualified in current clinical role, and where appropriate registered
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification
  • Full, current UK valid driving licence with C1 with no more than 3 penalty points
  • Blue Light Driving qualification if appropriate to clinical role

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Ability to manage both self and others and use initiative to problem solve based on sound rationale
  • Maintain currency with clinical/technical developments, using appropriate reference materials
  • Ability to design and adapt training packages using a wide range of information resources, including computer software programmes and digital learning modes
  • Knowledge of the quality assurance cycle and Trust policy and procedures concerning reasonable adjustments
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating commitment & adherence to the Service Vision & Values
