The Role

To provide a patient administration service within the Health Records Department, which administratively underpins the patient’s journey to and through the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient care, to meet the needs of patients and health care professionals.

The working pattern for this role is Wednesday & Friday 09:00 - 17:00.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In this key role, you will:

  • To ensure confidentiality of patient information is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure accurate maintenance and update of the patient/clinical management systems.
  • To provide cover to the Department Helpdesk service: to answer all telephone enquiries and all other enquiries, and to ensure appropriate action is taken. To deal with all telephone enquiries from other sources.
  • To ensure immediate despatch of supplementary folders to Wards for patient Emergency and patient Elective Admissions, ensuring that the supplementary folders have been appropriately prepared.

What You'll Bring:

  • Educated to standard grade.
  • A knowledge of health records gained through 2 years experience and/or qualification at SVQ level 2, ECDL or equivalent.
  • Customer care skills.
  • Computer literate and keyboard skills.
