Job overview

A Capital Project Manager plays a vital role within the Capital Development Team in the Estates, Facilities, and Development Directorate. The role involves coordinating and managing a diverse range of Capital Investment, Backlog Maintenance, and Estates Safety Projects, ensuring successful delivery. The post holder will need extensive on-site experience managing multiple stakeholders, including Contractors, Design Teams, Consultants, Principal Designers, Building Control, and User and Patient Experience Groups.

While extensive experience in the built environment is essential, knowledge or experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering is desirable. The Capital Project Manager will be responsible for planning, delivery, and performance management, adjusting plans as needed to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes.

Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate and manage a diverse range of Capital Investment, Backlog Maintenance, and Estates Safety Projects.
  • Plan, deliver, and manage performance, adjusting plans to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Oversee risk and issue management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead on development of the risk register and management action plan for assigned projects.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, on time, and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure that each project is delivered within an appropriate framework of organization and compliance in accordance with Trust policies, project management procedures, HTM and HBNs.
  • Manage and regularly review contract documentation to ensure it is kept up to date and in line with current guidance and best practice.

  • HNC/HND in Building Services / Construction in Built Environment/ Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Extensive experience in managing construction management and or engineering projects.

Desirable

  • Degree in Building Services / Construction in Built Environment/ Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Project Management Level 4 or equivalent.
  • On Site Construction Management experience inc Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Site management H&S certification. i.e.NEBOSH/IOSH/SMS TS.

  • Conversant with modern construction and contract methods and requirements
  • Specialist knowledge in technical and statutory requirements
  • Able to organise and prioritise heavy workloads
  • Able to proactively manage contractors and consultants
  • Able to manage delegated budgets

Desirable

  • Clear understanding in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD)
