Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in FRS, supporting the delivery of a high-performing, innovative 24/7 mental health crisis service. Working closely with operational and clinical leaders, you will lead the business, administrative and performance functions that help ensure the service runs efficiently, safely and effectively.
As Business Manager, you will have a varied and influential role, overseeing performance reporting, workforce planning, telephony systems, governance processes, business continuity, budget monitoring and administrative teams. You will use data and insight to support decision-making, drive service improvement and help shape the future development of FRS.
This role would suit a motivated and proactive individual who enjoys solving problems, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively across teams. Main duties of the job
As Business Manager within FRS, you will work closely with operational and clinical leaders to ensure the service runs effectively, efficiently and delivers high-quality support to people experiencing mental health crisis. The role combines leadership, service improvement, workforce coordination, performance management and business support, providing a unique opportunity to influence how a busy and innovative service operates.
You will lead the administrative function, use data and insight to support service development, and work across a wide range of projects and priorities. Job responsibilities
The Business Manager is a key member of the FRS leadership team, responsible for supporting the effective delivery of a 24/7 mental health crisis service through the management of business, administrative and operational functions. Working closely with Service Managers, Clinical Team Managers and wider stakeholders, the post holder will lead on performance reporting, workforce coordination, governance processes, business planning and service improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing the administrative function, providing leadership, supervision and support to non-clinical staff.
- Producing and analysing performance data, key performance indicators and business reports to support operational decision-making and service improvement.
- Managing telephony systems and reporting, including maintaining call centre software and providing analysis of service demand and activity.
- Supporting workforce planning through rota management, temporary staffing coordination, sickness monitoring and establishment oversight.
- Coordinating governance processes, audits, meetings, action tracking and compliance requirements, including supporting service readiness for inspections and reviews.
- Leading on business continuity planning, risk management activities and the implementation of service policies and procedures.
- Supporting financial management through monitoring budgets, expenditure and procurement processes, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Developing and maintaining information systems, reporting tools and administrative processes to improve efficiency and data quality.
- Working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support service delivery, improvement projects and organisational priorities.
- Assisting with complaints, investigations, audits and service development work, ensuring high standards of quality and governance are maintained.
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and contribute to the ongoing development of FRS, ensuring the service remains responsive, efficient and focused on delivering high-quality support to people experiencing mental health crisis.
