A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Physiotherapist (Team Leader) Musculoskeletal Outpatients to join our large team.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is part of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and has good transport links to the City Centre.

We are at an exciting time with work progressing well on our new Therapy Outpatient Department, which will give a new modern therapy MDT environment in 2027.

This is an opportunity for applicants looking to move into a more senior position, who have considerable senior experience assessing and treating acute and chronic conditions in an Acute NHS setting. Within the team we have opportunities to work in FCP roles, Major trauma clinics, Fracture clinics, T&O clinics, Spinal clinics, Pain clinics, ED, SEMS and Haemophilia, all closely with the MDT.

The Physiotherapy service actively supports CPD and personal development for all staff. We have a comprehensive in-service training programme at all levels and structured supervision. We have an experience team of Clinical Specialists supporting Senior staff.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to contribute to service development, quality improvement and operational delivery. This will include tasks as requested by Clinical Specialist or Senior Management as required. This may include periods of Team Leader of the day to support department operations.

You will be expected to be flexible with working hours to cover late clinics and weekend work. You will be expected to support our weekend trauma rota.

You should have experience of managing both qualified and non-qualified staff and will be expected to assist in their development.

Evidence of leadership competency or qualification is required.

There are ample opportunities for CPD.

The successful candidate will be dynamic and highly skilled in managing a complex caseload of patients with acute and chronic conditions and work within the MDT in consultant clinics in a variety of specialities. You will also participate in triage of referrals.

You should have experience of working in an acute NHS Trust and management of acute and chronic conditions in an outpatient setting.

You will be expected to manage and support students and more junior staff as required and contribute to their development. You will partake in the delivery of a comprehensive in-service training programme. All behaviours should be in line with the trust behavioural framework.
