Job overview
The post holder is an experienced nurse acting within their professional boundaries and as part of a team of nurse practitioners to provide direct care to a distinct caseload of patients.
The post holder will act as an autonomous practitioner responsible for the provision of expert care both as part of a multidisciplinary team and without direct medical supervision, including the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients based on physical, social, psychological and emotional needs, working across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.
The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking and clinical decision-making in managing a range of patients, predominantly those with HIV infection, and those requiring HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or post-exposure prophylaxis following sexual exposure (PEPSE), using current national clinical guidance, physical assessment, and independent and supplementary nurse prescribing as agreed by the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide senior clinical nursing leadership as an HIV advanced practice expert within the Trust, through senior clinical practice and the dissemination of specialist skills and knowledge to others. Participation in clinical audit, quality improvement, and relevant specialty and Trust groups, and the development of nursing research, is an essential element of this role.
