Job overview

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust are working together through Transforming Care Together (TCT) to roll out Heidi Health's Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) across both organisations - freeing up clinicians from documentation and giving them more time for direct patient care.

We're recruiting an AVT Training Lead to shape how staff across both Trusts learn to use this technology safely, confidently and consistently. This is a hands-on, highly visible role at the heart of one of the most significant digital transformation programmes in our region - ideal for someone who enjoys building something new, working closely with clinical teams, and seeing the direct impact of their work on the ground.

You'll join a supportive, fast-moving Transformation Delivery Unit at a pivotal stage of the AVT programme, with genuine autonomy in how you plan and deliver training, and direct exposure to Trust leadership, Clinical Champions and frontline teams across two Trusts. This is a rare opportunity to help define how ambient voice technology is embedded into everyday NHS practice - and to build skills and a track record in digital adoption and change that will serve your career well beyond this post.

Proposed Interview week: W/C 14th September 2026

Training Design and Delivery

The post holder is responsible for training design and delivery across all clinical areas adopting Heidi AVT, working closely with the AVT Implementation Manager(s) and service leads. Regardless of specific cohort or specialty, the following responsibilities apply:

  • Design and develop training materials, guides, quick-reference resources and e-learning content for Heidi AVT, tailored to different clinical specialties, staff roles and levels of digital confidence.
  • Plan and deliver a rolling programme of training sessions (group, one-to-one, and drop-in) across WHT and RWT ahead of and during each AVT cohort go-live.
  • Adapt training content and delivery format to reflect feedback, evolving AVT functionality, and the needs of different staff groups, including bank and agency staff.
  • Ensure training covers safe and appropriate use of AVT, including patient processes, data handling, and escalation routes for technical or clinical safety issues, ensuring all User Agreements are signed and recorded, prior to the issue of licences.
  • To authorise the issuing of (new users/starters), and deletion of licences (leavers), and maintenance thereof, ensuring records are accurate at all times.
  • Establishing a group-wide process for new starters (at induction) and respective training and issuing of licences.
  • Deliver AVT training as part of Trust induction processes for new starters in relevant clinical areas.
  • Work with Heidi Health's training and customer success team to access supplier training resources, webinars and best practice materials, adapting these for local use.
  • Provide floor-walking and “at the elbow” support during go-live weeks, building staff confidence and troubleshooting issues in real time.
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff training queries and day-to-day use issues, escalating technical, clinical safety or information governance concerns to the AVT Implementation Manager.
  • Support clinical teams through the transition from Dragon Dictation to Heidi AVT, ensuring staff are trained and confident ahead of Dragon contract expiry.
  • Support both Trust-issued and personal mobile device user groups, providing device-specific guidance as needed, and provide refresher training and additional support to staff or teams identified as having lower confidence or adoption rates.

Supporting Go-Live and Adoption

  • Provide floor-walking and “at the elbow” support during go-live weeks in each cohort area, building staff confidence and troubleshooting issues in real time.
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff training queries and day-to-day use issues arising during and after go-live.
  • Escalate technical, clinical safety or information governance concerns arising during training or go-live to the AVT Implementation Manager promptly.
  • Support both Own Device and Trust-device user groups, providing device-specific guidance as needed.
  • Provide refresher training and additional support to staff or teams identified as having lower confidence or adoption rates.

Champion and Super-User Network

  • Provide day-to-day direction and co-ordination to the Clinical Champion network across both Trusts, allocating training activity, monitoring individual Champion engagement and contribution, and identifying where additional support, reassignment, or replacement of a Champion is needed - escalating any performance concerns to the AVT Implementation Manager
  • Coordinate a network of Clinical Champions across go-live areas, providing them with train-the-trainer support and ongoing resources.
  • Maintain regular contact with Clinical Champions to share updates, gather feedback and identify emerging training needs.
  • Support Clinical Champions in providing peer-to-peer support and encouragement within their own clinical teams.
  • Contribute to the recognition and celebration of Clinical Champion contributions, supporting engagement and retention within the network.
  • Identify and support the recruitment of new Clinical Champions as the programme expands into new cohorts and specialties.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records including attendance, competency sign-off and outstanding training need by specialty and staff group.
  • Monitor and report on training coverage and adoption rates by specialty, feeding into AVT programme KPI reporting.
  • Review individual adoption rates on a weekly basis to proactively identify staff who hold an AVT licence but are not yet using it, contacting them directly to understand any barriers to adoption, offering additional training or one-to-one support, and escalating to the AVT Implementation Manager where adoption concerns persist.
  • Gather and triage user feedback and common issues arising during training and go-live, escalating technical or clinical safety issues to the AVT Implementation Manager.
  • Contribute training and adoption data to programme highlight reports and benefits realisation reporting as required.
  • Keep training and competency records organised and accessible to support programme reporting and any audit requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with clinical and operational teams, Clinical Champions, service leads and administrative staff across both Trusts.
  • Work closely with the AVT Implementation Manager(s), IG and Clinical Safety colleagues, and the wider AVT Programme team to ensure training reflects current programme requirements.
  • Liaise with Heidi Health's training and customer success team to feedback user experience and access supplier support as required.
  • Support engagement with staff groups who may need additional or adapted training, such as bank, agency, and newly qualified staff.
  • Work closely with the TCT Communications and Engagement work stream to ensure consistent, clear and well-timed messaging to staff about AVT training and go-live plans.
  • Governance and Assurance
  • Ensure training records provide an accurate, auditable evidence base for training compliance and competency assurance.
  • Support compliance with clinical safety standards (DCB0129/DCB0160), information governance policies and Trust policies relevant to AVT use.
  • Escalate any training-related risks or issues to the AVT Implementation Manager, contributing to the programme risk register where required.
  • Support the AVT Implementation Manager in maintaining visibility of training-related risks, gaps and resource pressures across go-live areas.
  • To liaise with Operational managers for each specialty, ensuring they understand their responsibilities for new starters and leavers and are familiar with the Heidi dashboards for monitoring purposes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Keep training materials and delivery methods up to date as Heidi AVT features and functionality evolve.
  • Contribute training and adoption insight to the continuous development of the AVT Programme's implementation approach.
  • Keep up to date with national policy, best practice and lessons learned from other AVT/ambient scribing deployments, sharing relevant developments with the AVT Implementation Manager.

General Duties

  • Comply with all Trust and Group policies, procedures and statutory obligations, including Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Information Governance and Caldicott Guardian requirements.
  • Ensure that all training activity reflects the values of both organisations and the NHS Constitution.
  • Maintain personal and professional development, including participation in appraisal, mandatory training and continuing professional development relevant to the role.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety and inclusive support for staff learning to use AVT.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the role as agreed with the AVT Implementation Manager.
