GOSH Arts is seeking an Art Manager (Built Environment) to join the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of ambitious art commissions linked to redevelopment and capital projects across the Trust, while also managing the GOSH Art Collection. The successful candidate will have experience working with artists to develop and deliver artworks in public settings and be confident managing projects involving multiple stakeholders. You will understand the value of creative consultation and co-design and how these approaches can strengthen project outcomes.
While previous experience in a healthcare setting is not essential, you should demonstrate awareness of the challenges and opportunities that are associated with commissioning artwork in a paediatric hospital.

Main duties of the job
Support the Head of Arts in the development and delivery of art strategies in relation to Capital and Redevelopment projects, including curatorial research and the preparation of presentations
Independently project manage selected projects as agreed by the Head of Arts, taking responsibility for developing art strategies, briefs and contracts as well as relationship management, production and delivery.
Research, write and develop policy documents relating to the long-term care of the collection.
Ensure all artists and contractors have completed the appropriate training, assessments and security checks.
Manage the installation of artworks and exhibitions, including directing art handling teams and occasional moderate lifting.
Communicate with wards, depts., clinical, financial and play staff to convey complex arts specific information to staff and recruit them to enable, support or participate in projects

Essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent administration, scheduling and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to assess quality and appropriateness of arts projects
- Proven ability to work both independently with initiative and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Skilled in quickly building trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders
- High level of computer literacy and administration skills
Desirable
- Skilled at using graphic design tools and software such as Adobe Suite, Canva or similar
- Understanding of social media and comms strategies to raise awareness and demonstrate impact
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
- Experience commissioning artists and delivering site-specific or public art projects
- Demonstrable experience of managing visual arts projects, including budgets, risk assessments, evaluation and documentation
- Understanding of how to engage with children and young people and diverse stakeholder groups to develop commissions.
- Experience managing a range of freelance employees, contractors and volunteers
- Understanding of how art enhances the healthcare environment and patient experience
- Knowledge of Arts in Health practice and research
- Understanding of hospital systems such as infection prevention control, confidentiality, safeguarding and health and safety
Desirable
- Experience managing commissions linked to capital projects
- Previous experience working in an NHS or health-related setting
- Experience using collection database systems such as Ehive or similar
