You must have good knowledge of the national ANNB screening programmes as well as the passion and drive to sustain change to meet both local and national screening standards, ensuring birthing people and their families are at the centre of care.
You will liaise with a wide local and national multi-agency team, including specialist consultants, sonographers, senior managers, laboratory staff, NHSE commissioners and QA to implement and embed robust systems and processes which underpin the ANNB screening care pathways.
You will be supported by the ANNB Screening Manager and work closely with the ANNB Screening Coordinator based on the Queen Elizabeth site.
Excellent organisational and IT skills are required.
Main duties of the job
Include:
Responsible for ensuring the provision of recommended ANNB screening programmes to birthing people accessing maternity care at LGT at any point throughout the pregnancy, birth and postnatally.
Ensure failsafe systems are in place so that eligible birthing people/babies do not miss screening.
Oversee and facilitate the provision of all recommended ANNB screening tests as specified within the National Screening Committee standards for the ANNB screening programmes as well as the provision of care pathways for birthing people and babies who are found to be screen positive.
Develop services and care pathways, in partnership with the MDT, for screening programmes that do not meet the ANNB screening standards.
Provide regular updates and training to the MDT regarding ANNB screening.
Supervise and work closely with the deputy ANNB Screening Coordinator.
Have line management responsibilities for members of the Screening Team including annual appraisals, revalidation and sickness absence.
Deliver mandatory & screening training to multi-disciplinary groups.
Report risks and incidents via the Trust incident reporting system. Carry out investigations as required in line with local Trust policy and NHSE standards and ensure there is shared learning.
Oversee the management and update of the antenatal screening failsafe database on the UHL site.
This post is not suitable for newly qualified midwives or international midwives who have not completed their OSCE.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide high quality women/birthing people centred maternity care to women/birthing people and their families working in collaboration with children’s and gynaecology services.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of all recommended antenatal and newborn screening programmes to all mothers/birthing people and newborn babies who access care from our maternity services, at any point throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal episodes of care.
To ensure that there are failsafe systems in place to capture all women/birthing people and babies who are receiving care in a variety of different care settings.

Essential
- Significant post registration experience
- Significant experience as a Band 7 or equivalent

- Proven track record of leadership
- Evidence of clinical competence and regular clinical practice
