Job overview

The Lambeth Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is recruiting a Administrator Assistant to support in the effective running of the service and helping deliver high‑quality care for children, young people and their families within the ADHD Team. This full‑time post operates Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, with some flexibility required to meet service needs, and is based at a Lambeth CAMHS office in Kennington

Main duties of the job

The candidate should have good interpersonal written and oral communication skills, exemplary timekeeping and flexible approach to work is required for this post. The person must also have good computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel), with the ability to meet deadlines and experience of working in a busy office environment. A good understanding of performance and activity targets as well as in-depth knowledge of ePJS would be desirable.

We are looking to appoint an administrator with excellent organisation and communication skills and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will be assertive, work well within a team and be passionate about providing a high-quality service. We are looking for a candidate who is efficient, great with systems and inspired by the idea of making a difference.

This is a challenging role working within an extremely busy office and it is therefore important that you are enthusiastic, motivated and able to work under pressure. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide a professional and confidential administration service, to include copy typing; preparing correspondence; proof reading documents; photocopying; filing; scanning; dealing with post.
  • To assist people in a helpful, diplomatic and tactful manner; screening and re routing calls, as appropriate. Taking clear, concise messages and dealing with general enquiries, where appropriate.
  • To ensure daily tasks and on going workloads are prioritised and completed within agreed timescales. Manage multiple tasks within the working day whilst maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to work in an unpredictable pattern, dealing with frequent interruptions.
  • Organise the booking of interpreters and translation of correspondence, where appropriate.
  • To arrange appointments and meetings as required.
  • Attend meetings and produce minutes.
  • Make travel arrangements for the team when required.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
