Bristol 3D Medical Centre is looking for a full-time facility technician for the expanding Prosthetics and 3D services. The successful candidate will be required to maintain and coordinate the day-to-day upkeep of the 3D and laboratory equipment and software. This role supports work of the department by maintaining equipment, scheduling prints, keeping stock/ordering, utilising the 3D software for basic design and research purposes.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring the comprehensive maintenance of the 3D printers, equipment and software required for the efficient operation of the 3D facility.
- Clean specialist equipment, software and 3D tooling, working within clearly defined limits.
- Schedule servicing and maintain records for auditing and quality management purposes, to determine optimum capacity and print speed/quality balance
- Communicate with Bristol 3D Medical Centre staff to coordinate scheduling, maintenance and servicing
- Determine and manage consigned stock levels of 3D and laboratory items, working with scientific staff, ensuring safe storage and an optimum inventory within the system and escalating any shortages
- To utilise 3D software to carry out basic digital designs of 3D printed models and devices, to be approved by senior staff working within clearly defined limits.
- To carry out basic laboratory tasks for the Reconstructive Prosthetics team, such as making plaster casts, creating bespoke moulds and using vacuum forming machines, with and without the involvement of 3D models.
- Perform clinical imaging of patients (of all ages) within the Bristol 3D Medical Centre, using the scanning facilities.
- Provide reports of print, scan and processing data for provision with medical reports and devices.
- To be involved in audit and research involving 3D printing and 3D software, as well as prosthetics applications.
