Job summary

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced Ward Nurse to join our amazing and supportive team in our prestige private hospital in York. This is part-time of 19 hours a week across 2 days must be flexible to work Monday-Thurs also we would need you to cover occassional shifts in our Bradford and Wetherby hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the Ophthalmic service at Optegra, including surgery. Provide excellent care to all patients, with specific responsibility for diagnostic testing, pre-operative assessment, peri-operative and post-operative care in the surgical and refractive suite of the hospital, and assisting with minor operations.

Job responsibilities

  • Use clinical judgement and analytical skills to proactively identify potential problems during the patients clinical pathway that require Consultant / Surgeon input.
  • Work with Consultants supporting them and delivering excellent care to patients during their clinical pathway.
  • Provide pre and postoperative instructions to patients/carers through effective communication as part of the clinical competency framework and holistic care of patients.
  • Provide clinical advice for patients, within level of competency.
  • Administer drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines for the Standards for Medicines Management 2008.
