Main duties of the job

As a Ward Manager at Elysium Healthcare, you will be more than just a team manager. You are expected to be a leader, an expert, and a pivotal figure in cultivating a positive culture within your ward. Your role will encompass guiding and nurturing talent and looking after everyone in the ward, ensuring high-quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities. You will lead the nursing team, promote teamwork, manage budgets, and provide clinical leadership and expertise. Your role also involves ensuring high standards in line with the Clinical Governance framework, acting as a role model, and maintaining a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant nursing qualification, NMC registration, a positive attitude, and a track record in leadership skills in similar environments.

What you will be doing

With experience from the NHS or private care, you will lead the nursing team provide high-quality care and support to adults with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, while also supporting your colleagues and promoting good teamwork.

As a Ward Manager, you will empower recovery and deliver supervision to staff across the ward to deliver great healthcare. You will work alongside the senior Nurse to manage the on-call service and manage the ward budgets, and lead by example, acting as a role model to all members of the nursing team, leading care teams and creating a positive learning environment that makes a difference and changes lives for the better. Other duties include:

• Providing Clinical Leadership and expertise
• Providing leadership and guidance to support a unified service and engaged workforce
• Ensuring that high standards are in place, followed and improved in accordance within the Clinical Governance framework
• Utilising and supervising all nursing staff effectively
• Being an expert resource on Nursing care of service users within the specialism and hold a key role in the multidisciplinary team
• Maintaining a positive and collaborative environment to allow ward members to reach their potential and maximum their ability to provide high-quality care, staff welfare and staff training
• Designated to take charge of the ward

• A relevant nursing qualification
• NMC registration
• A positive attitude and be naturally caring and compassionate
• A commitment to high-quality care and to values and evidence-based practice
• Relevant experience in a similar environment
• Proven track record of leadership skills

Where you will be working:

Location: Cefn Carnau Lane, Thornhill, Caerphilly, South Wales, CF83 1LX

You will be working at Cefn Carnau; a low secure/rehabilitation service for adults with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability who may also present with mental illness, personality disorders and an autistic spectrum condition.

The programmes provided at the service, include a sex offender treatment programme, anger management, trauma therapy, art psychotherapy together with bespoke psychological sessions aimed at people with learning disabilities.
