We are looking for a talented Volunteer Co-ordinator who will be responsible for recruiting, training, supporting and developing our voluntary services, so that we can support our community.
The successful candidate will have

- Motivation, organisation and excellent time management skills
- Previous experience of working in a busy administrative role within a healthcare/charity organisation

Main duties of the job
East Sussex Community Health NHS Trust (ESHT) provides acute hospital and community health services for people living in East Sussex and surrounding areas. We value our volunteers, who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to the Trust.
We have over 500 volunteers in a wide range of roles, supporting our commitment to putting people first in providing high quality healthcare in a safe and welcoming environment.
The role is for 25 hours per week (across 4-5 days) and you will be part of a pair of Volunteer Co-ordinators based in Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital, Hastings.
We are looking for a good team player, to support colleagues in day-to-day tasks and activities.
You will have good administrative and organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and excellent communications skills, to effectively engage with colleagues, staff, volunteers and external services.
Further skills and abilities include -
- Ability to develop, deliver and administer recruitment, training and induction processes for ESHT volunteers
- Ability to promote and enhance opportunities for volunteering within ESHT, which will include, supporting staff to identify roles suitable for volunteers
- Ability to demonstrate respect and compassion and support volunteers through 1:1 meetings and facilitating volunteer events

Essential
- Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Understanding and experience of good practice volunteering including recruitment and retention of volunteers
- Experience of using data bases to record client / service user / volunteer / patient information
- Ability to plan and organise a broad range of activities and programmes mobilising volunteer support
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the NHS structures and functions
- Experience of measuring impact of voluntary services
- Understanding of promoting good practice in enhancing patient experience
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of previous experience in an administrative, service user /client /patient facing role or a clinical role within the NHS or other public / voluntary sector organisation relating to the provision of health or social care
- Previous experience of maintaining records and databases
- Experience of working on own initiative and solving problems
- Experience of inter-agency and partnership working
Desirable
- Previous experience of working within social and health and care services
- Previous experience of handling cash
- Previous experience of working with volunteers
- Good understanding of voluntary services
Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to GCSE level – including Maths and English at grade C or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Evidence of ongoing training, experience and knowledge in relevant specialist subject.
Desirable
- ECDL or alternative relevant IT qualification
- RSAIII typing / word processing or proven equivalent level of skill
