We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and self-motivated individual to join our post-kidney transplant nurse specialist team. The post-transplant team provide a busy and dynamic service to patients following a kidney transplant.
The successful candidate will join our nurse led post-transplant follow-up service based within the Renal Unit at Nottingham City Hospital, part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).
This role will require you to be an autonomous practitioner working in a team providing lifelong follow-up care to kidney transplant patients but also be part of a large multidisciplinary team managing the complex needs of adult kidney transplant patients.
Previous experience in renal nursing is essential and the successful candidate would be required to complete the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, if not already previously achieved.
The post is part-time, working 24 hours over 3 working days. However, flexibility in working hours will occasionally be required. The post also requires participation in the transplant co-ordinator on-call rota which includes overnight or weekends (predominantly telephone based).
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities are:
- To take overall responsibility for the care of a caseload of patients requiring renal transplant care.
- To provide specialist training across functional boundaries, as required for both patients and renal nursing staff.
- To monitor and adjust immunosuppression dosages in transplant recipients.
- To participate in the on-call rota for transplant co-ordination.
