Job overview

Supporting the provision of a safe & secure environment across University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Sites including the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital & Louisa Martindale Building. To manage traffic flows and car parking across the Trust’s sites. Provide advice & support to Trust staff, patients & visitors regarding parking arrangements. To maximise the collection of revenue from Car Parking facilities.

Main duties of the job

To manage the traffic flow and access/egress of vehicles into Trust car parks and access roads in line with the Trust Traffic Management & Car Parking Policy. To undertake cash collection and reconciliations as required. To undertake daily checks and maintenance of car parking facilities & equipment including barriers, ticket & payment machines. To issue enforcement notices in line with Trust policy. Undertake regular foot patrols of the Hospital car parks and access roads. Provide traffic support when required in emergency incidents on Trust premises. To monitor relevant CCTV footage. Ensure equipment provided is maintained inclusive and not limited to radio communications and body-worn camera equipment. To prevent the loss of property belonging to the Trust’s, their staff, patients and visitors. To carry out other duties as directed by the Group Head of Security or their authorised representative.

The post holder has a responsibility to themselves and others in relation to managing risk, health and safety and will be required to work within the policies and procedures laid down by the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Deal sensitively and empathetically with individuals seeking help in parking/finding their way around the hospital site being mindful of the reasons for their attendance at hospital. Communicate by telephone, intercom & face to face with staff, visitors, patients & staff from external agencies. Ensure effective communication between all internal and external agencies.

Ensure that all records of traffic activity or incidents are comprehensively documented, updated and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and Security Department Standard Operating Procedures.

Commitment to improve skill levels and knowledge by participation in appropriate training and learning opportunities. Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and delegated or requested by the manager or supervisor, as the needs of the service require.
