We have a unique  opportunity for you to join our therapy team as an Activity Coordinator

Do you have a passion for providing dedicated, person-centred care? We have a position available as part of an innovative project aimed at enhancing care for individuals with additional interaction needs.

Individuals need to be compassionate and adaptable and thrive in a  focused care environment, working with a small number of patients or providing 1:1 support. The  role involves working with young adults, individuals with learning disabilities or autism, and older adults with dementia or delirium.

Help to improve the experience for our patients. You will be matched with patients daily, adapting your approach to meet their specific needs and interests, while creatively engaging with patients to ensure they are comfortable. The applicant needs  experience in leading activities and will need to thrive in creative environments. Activities may involve, but  not limited to; arts and crafts, games, puzzles, exercises and singing and dancing therapy. The applicant will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident at developing a rapport with patients who may have a cognitive impairment.

If you are patient, resourceful, and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals, we’d love to hear from you.

This role will be based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, but may involve some cross site working between Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To use the principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy in an integrated and client-centred way to provide meaningful activity to individuals through provision of a varied and flexible programme of therapeutic social and recreational activities taking into consideration a person’s affect/mood and cognition.

To use verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients/carers. This may include education, motivation, and empowerment.
