We are looking for dynamic and proactive members of staff to maintain the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-focused care within our Theatre department.

Therefore an exciting opportunity has arisen for Theatre Healthcare Assistants to take on roles at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

We are looking for forward thinking and highly motivated staff, who are able to demonstrate good time management skills, you will also need to possess good communication skills (verbal, written & electronic) and have the ability to work as part of a team.

The successful applicants will give direct care to patients attending the operating department, in a safe and welcoming environment under the supervision of professionally qualified staff.

This role does require you to work days, nights, evenings, weekends & on-call.

This role will start at a Band 2 and will then progress to a Band 3 once all mandatory training and competencies have been completed.

Liverpool Women’s University Hospital Trust is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a visa which allows you to work in the UK, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that LWH will be unable to offer sponsorship after your visa expires. You must also have at least 12 months on your visa at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Main duties of the job

To perform as a safe competent clinical member of the theatre team and provide care for the peri-operative patient under the supervision of qualified staff.

To ensure the cleanliness of all the Operating Theatre areas and equipment at all times and to participate in all cleaning programmes, including before and following routine and emergency operating procedures.

To prepare the Operating Theatre prior to and following operative procedures ensuring correct equipment available and in working order and to notify the Registered Practitioner of any problems identified.

To assist the Scrubbed Practitioner in the preparation and replenishment of sterile trolleys using an aseptic technique.

To participate in swab, needle and instrument counts under the direction of the Scrubbed Practitioner and in accordance with the departmental procedure.

To participate and comply with all aspects of any Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) process and associated documentation completion during the provision of patient care.

The role advertised has an on-call requirement and as such please note the below when applying. Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust operates an On-Call service to ensure continuous, safe care for patients at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Staff members who are required to participate in the On-Call rota must be able to attend the hospital within 30 minutes of being called and therefore must live within a travel distance that allows them to reach the hospital within a 30-minute journey time. Where this is not possible, individuals may make alternative arrangements to ensure compliance with the 30-minute requirement, for example temporarily staying with a friend, family member, or in other suitable accommodation located within close proximity to the hospital, any such arrangements would be at the individual’s own expense.
