We are excited to launch our state-of-the-art Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre, designed to transform elective surgical care and increase our capacity for elective surgery.

This purpose-built facility features:

The multiple PACU’s at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provide post-operative care for a wide range of surgical specialities including; Robotics, Gynae Oncology, Brachy Therapy, Hepato-biliarily and Maxillo Facial surgery to name but a few.

Main duties of the job

To be a clinical specialist in the field of post-operative nursing / operating department practice.

This is a key role within the Trust with responsibility for the management of multiple areas of PACU, in addition to maintaining clinical input.

The post holder will be a team leader in a specialist in the PACU clinical area and will be responsible for providing clinical management, advice, support and teaching to all relevant personnel within the post-operative environment.

They will have responsibility for managing, leading, encouraging and directing the post-operative team, to promote evidence based clinical practice, ensuring the provision of a high quality and cost effective service to patients and service users.

GENERAL

  • -        Full management of the designated areas of PACU. -        Support training and development both within the specialist area of responsibility and the theatre department. -        Manage and lead a multidisciplinary team, members of which may change on a daily basis, ensuring high quality research based individualised patient care is maintained at all times. -        Teach trained staff and students within the clinical area. -        Implement local and national guidelines and recommendations, which relate to post-operative care. -        Ensure identification and assessment of patient’s needs, assessing their requirements, planning and implementation of care, providing specialist advice on post-operative care.
