Job overview

Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.

An exciting and clinically significant opportunity has arisen for an experienced, specialist Band 7 registered nurse to lead the surgical site infection (SSI) surveillance programme within Royal Bolton Hospital.

This is a new, autonomous, specialist post. The post-holder will act as the Trust's named SSI lead, taking responsibility for surveillance methodology, data analysis, root cause investigation, governance reporting, and external liaison with UKHSA, and regional quality improvement networks (AQuA).

The successful candidate will combine expert clinical knowledge of wound infection with the seniority, credibility, and autonomy to drive sustained improvement in patient outcomes, working closely with clinicians, management, microbiology, theatres, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a new specialist service from the ground up, with genuine scope to influence Trust-wide and regional infection prevention practice.
