Lead, Co-ordinate and Drive Excellence in Dermatology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Dermatology Co-ordinator to join our growing Dermatology Service.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, coordinating patient pathways, monitoring performance and helping to achieve Cancer Waiting Time and Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards.

Working closely with clinical and operational teams, you will support service delivery, identify risks, drive improvements and help ensure patients receive timely and effective care.

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, detail-focused and able to build effective working relationships. You will be confident using information and data to support decision-making and service improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, influence service delivery and contribute to the future development of Dermatology services across the Trust.

  • ·         The role supports senior managers in the Dermatology Department to help run services safely and smoothly.
  • ·         It involves keeping track of performance, money and resources so the team can make good decisions.
  • ·         The job helps with planning future services and making sure staff and patients have what they need.
  • ·         It supports work to improve quality, patient experience and staff satisfaction.
  • ·         The role helps manage risks, record issues and make sure problems are dealt with quickly.
  • ·         It includes working with other teams and taking on projects to support the Trust’s wider goals.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of NHS patient pathways, including RTT and Cancer Waiting Time standards.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, information governance, and data protection requirements.
  • Understanding of NHS operational processes and performance management.
  • Knowledge of waiting list management principles.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS performance frameworks and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of GIRFT, elective recovery and productivity programmes.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of coordinating complex patient pathways or administrative processes within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of managing and maintaining electronic information systems and databases.
  • Experience of monitoring performance against targets and deadlines.
  • Experience of service improvement initiatives and implementing changes to working practices.

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience working within Dermatology or a surgical speciality.
  • Experience of managing RTT pathways, cancer pathways, or waiting lists.
  • Experience of supporting service redesign or transformation programmes.
  • Experience of budget monitoring or resource management.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE level (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Management qualification or leadership development training.
  • Quality Improvement or Project Management qualification.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with clinical and managerial colleagues.

Desirable

  • Advanced Excel skills including data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience using Trust systems such as PAS, CareFlow, eRS, Somerset Cancer Registry or equivalent.
  • Experience presenting performance information to operational and clinical teams.
