This year we have 2 School Nurse SCPHN student posts available. The course is delivered exclusively through Oxford Brookes University and leads to a Master's level qualification. About the Course The SCPHN programme at Oxford Brookes University is a Master's level course (PG Dip / MSc) and is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. The course combines online distance learning with supervised practice placements: Online distance learning - 2 days per week (theoretical and academic component) Practice placement - 3 days per week (clinical learning and hands-on experience) The 50/50 split of theory and practice ensures you develop both academic and clinical skills Upon completion you will be registered as a SCPHN and eligible to apply for Band 6 S

Main duties of the job

Entry Requirements

To be considered for a student post you must meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife
  • UK resident
  • Demonstrate either: achievement of an undergraduate degree OR completion of a Diploma in Nursing
  • A full UK driving licence is required

Desirable:

  • Completion of a recent Level 6 (or above) module

As a Student SCPHN School Nurse you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life, developing the skills to lead the Healthy Child Programme.

  • Support school-age children and young people to achieve their health and wellbeing potential
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to practice placements to develop high-quality, evidence-based assessment and care
