Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and highly motivated non medical consultant in Stroke Medicine to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for an advanced practitioner to take on a consultant level role leading on clinical assessment, care planning and service development within a supportive forward thinking environment.

The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership in stroke medicine, undertaking assessments, leading daily ward rounds and guiding MDT team. You will play a key role in research, education, and contribute to improvement of stroke services across the trust.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate the development of nursing within the Stroke Service working in partnership with the established consultant led medical team.

The post holder will act as a clinical expert, advisor and a resource for nurses, doctors and other health professionals within the MDT to improve patient care in Stroke.

The role will support the expertise offered by current Stroke Specialist Nurse and Clinical Stroke Co-ordinator colleagues, including supporting and training current and future members of the Stroke nursing team.

As an autonomous practitioner the Nurse Consultant will utilise advanced clinical skills and expertise, to develop and deliver a range of Stroke services and to deliver clinical interventions.
