We are seeking Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) for our Adult Acute Ward. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team at Salus Ward, a 16 bedded unit in Torquay, Devon.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, commitment to working flexibly, participating in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services, be able to demonstrate effective working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis and therefore enables staff to qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making and clinical leadership skills for running the ward as the Nurse in Charge. We are looking for a person centred Nurse who is compassionate and caring towards the patients in our care.
There will be an excellent level of professionalism demonstrated in the successful candidate who leads by example and supports junior staff through supervision and when leading the shift.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of ordering, storing and administering required medications.
- Knowledge of possible side effects of medication.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates).
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
Desirable
- Knowledge and skills in providing supervision.
- Understanding of Recovery principles in Mental Health.
- Knowledge and understanding of both adult and children's safeguarding guidance.
Experience
Essential
- Experience working as a Band 5 RMN
Desirable
- Experience of working with acute adult patients
Qualifications
Essential
- RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
- A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical
- Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)
Skills & Abilities
Essential
- Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and other professional bodies.
- Ability to engage in and lead (when required) MDT meetings.
- Ability to assess situations, make decisions, co-ordinate and organise appropriate responses.
- Have an awareness and ability to maintain personal boundaries.
- Able to risk assess.
- To be able to work on the internal ward shift rotation which includes night duties.
- To work to the Trust Data Protection and Confidentiality guidance/policy.
- Work as an effective role model.
- Promote effective service delivery and future changes in a positive way.
- Willingness to develop self.
