We are looking to recruit a Band 5 staff nurse to work within Respiratory on Ward 12 at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

This post is fully rotational between day shift, night shift, weekends and bank holidays.
The post is a full time vacancy but we welcome those seeking part time employment.

Main duties of the job
We are a 30 bedded acute respiratory ward which includes a dedicated respiratory support unit where we care for clinical level 2 patients requiring non invasive ventilation.
We meet the needs of adult patients requiring in hospital treatment for a range of respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma ,bronchiectasis , pleural effusions or respiratory failure.
We work as part of an MDT which includes our Respiratory Specialist Nurses and Respiratory Physiotherapists.

Specialised respiratory training including training in enhanced level 2 care. Friendly and supportive workplace Extensive and varied clinical experience and continued professional development
Gaining experience within the respiratory team could enhance progression within the service into leadership roles or a route to other specialist roles, such as respiratory specialist nursing.
You should have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a MDT.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
- To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/dept in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which
- (a) engages, enables and empowers others
- (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement
- (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

- 1st Level live NMC registered Nurse
- Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
