The role:

As a Scottish Standard Time System (SSTS) Officer within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital role in supporting a large-scale workforce system that underpins safe and effective service delivery. Working within one of the UK’s largest NHS organisations, you will join a collaborative and supportive Payroll Services team focused on accuracy, innovation and continuous improvement. You will act as a system expert, helping to implement, maintain and optimise SSTS, ensuring vital workforce and payroll data flows seamlessly across multiple NHS Boards.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Duration: Fixed Term

Location: Caledonia House, 140 Fifty Pitches Road, Glasgow, G51 4EB

Hours: Full Time (36 Hours)

Working Pattern: Mon-Fri (09:00-17:00)

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the rollout and ongoing development of the Scottish Standard Time System across multiple NHS Boards
  • Act as a system expert providing first-line support, guidance and advice to all SSTS users
  • Analyse, audit and validate workforce data, ensuring accuracy before transfer to payroll systems
  • Manage user access, including account creation, maintenance and adherence to IT security procedures
  • Investigate and resolve complex pay and system queries from managers and staff
  • Run and interpret reports to monitor data quality and support decision making
  • Work collaboratively within the team to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of service delivery

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Professional payroll qualification, such as CIPP or equivalent experience
  • Relevant NHS payroll experience with knowledge of payroll systems and processes
  • Strong understanding of Agenda for Change terms and conditions and payroll legislation
  • Experience with time and attendance or workforce systems with the ability to manage complex data
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word and reporting tools
  • Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
