Overall Responsibilities:
- To work on the Haematology Oncology Day Unit (HODU) & Mobile Cancer Care Units (MCCU) supporting patients, and their carers, who are receiving chemotherapy and supportive treatments for haematology/oncology conditions
- The post is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team which contributes to the effective and economic use of available resources.
- Responsibilities include involvement in the day-to-day management and co-ordination of HODU.

- Maintain a high standard of nursing care for ill patients in accordance with Airedale Hospital Trust’s guidelines and protocols.
- Contribute towards the development of clinical practice by participating in practice, and self- development programs on the unit

Essential
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Person-centered approach to assessment and care delivery
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of the NHS Constitution & “Understanding the new NHS
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of health and safety issues
- Knowledge of recent National Cancer Plans
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience in an NHS setting
Desirable
- Experience with managing change in the work place
Qualifications
Essential
- Studied to Diploma level or equivalent
- Registered with NMC
- Post registration oncology / haematology / chemotherapy course
- Recent evidence of study / personal development
- IV Drug delivery competencies
- Cannulation and phlebotomy competencies
- Access to CVADs competencies
- Administration of Blood and Blood Components competencies
Desirable
- BSc / MSc in Health care studies or equivalent
- Recognised teaching qualification (SLIP / ENB998 / D32 or D33)
- Leadership qualification (eg: Edward Jenner Programme / Rising Stars programme)
- UKONS SACT Passport AIMS / ILS / ALS
- Advanced communications skills Knowledge of palliative care issues
