Band 6

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, pro rata if part-time, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

1 Permanent and 1 fixed term contracts available until 18 Jul 2027.

For the successful applicant, you will be responsible for coordination and allocation of nursing staff; proactive management of patient flow to support Emergency Access Targets; acting as a clinical leader and role model; supporting and developing junior staff; contributing to clinical governance, service improvement and Emergency Quality Indicators.

Main duties of the job

• To assist when necessary with the definition of nursing standards and maintain the provision and effectiveness of those standards in line with clinical governance.
• To fulfil the requirements of clinical governance as laid out by the Trust in relation to quality of care, professional self-regulation and risk management.
• To work alongside Senior ED colleagues and to be actively involved with service.
• To developments and the achieving and maintaining of Government initiatives/ Emergency Quality Indicators.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To provide direction, negotiate objectives and appraise team members.
• To participate in the recruitment and selection of departmental staff.
• To act as lead person, representing the directorate, for specific development projects/meetings in the absence of the Head of Nursing.
• To assist the Head of Nursing in the investigation and positive management of complaints.
• To ensure nursing activities within ED adhere to Trust policies, take initial disciplinary actions if necessary in liaison with a senior colleague.
• To liaise with other agencies and professionals to maintain good service provision. Please refer to the job description for more information.
