Job overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team on Ward G2 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Ward G2 is a fast-paced, 13-bedded adult medical ward, including 10 cardiac monitored beds. The ward cares for patients with complex medical and cardiac needs and works closely with the Cardiology team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with strong clinical and leadership skills who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and driving service improvements.
The role involves taking charge of the ward, supporting patient flow, and working alongside the Senior Charge Nurse to develop and enhance the service in line with current and emerging pathways.
The post includes a full range of shift patterns, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will:
Act as Nurse in Charge of the ward, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care at all times
Support patient flow and facilitate timely admissions, transfers, and discharges in a busy and dynamic environment
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), operations team, and cardiology services.
Participate in and contribute to ward rounds and clinical decision-making
Provide clinical leadership, support, and supervision to junior staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development
Maintain and monitor standards of care, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and best practice
Bleep holding for division C.
Support the Senior Charge Nurse in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
Contribute to upskilling the team, particularly in cardiac care and monitoring
