Ward 7A at St Bartholomew’s Hospital is a busy and dynamic Cancer Day Unit, delivering high-quality care to a large number of patients in a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the City of London. While the administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy forms the core of the role, there are excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression. Nurses have the opportunity to gain experience in Medical Oncology, Haemato-Oncology, or both, enabling them to develop a broad and rewarding clinical skill set. Our nurses play an integral role within the multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to coordinate daily clinical activities, lead shifts, undertake clinic responsibilities, conduct on-treatment reviews, and provide pre-chemotherapy counselling and patient education. These varied responsibilities ensure that every member of the team can develop expertise while making a meaningful difference to the patient experience. Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team. As a proficient practitioner in SACT care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. He / she will also provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff. He/she also takes charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility. The post holder will be asked to perform the Clinic Nurse Role at times – coordinating all the prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations in advance, so that treatment production /dispensary occurs in a timely manner.
