Job overview

We are looking for a full-time Sexual Health Service Administrator to join the team at Sexual Health Dorset, supporting the delivery of a professional, confidential and patient-focused sexual health service across Dorset.

  • To provide comprehensive administrative support to the sexual health service.
  • To support the Team Lead and Clinical Lead Nurse to ensure effective delivery of the sexual health service.
  • To be a point of contact for the sexual health team and external agencies.
  • To be the first point of contact for patients wishing to make appointments or enquiries and deal with appropriately.

Main duties of the job

Resolve any patient issues locally, escalating to the Admin team lead or Lead Clinical Nurse as appropriate.

Ensure a friendly, courteous, and efficient service is consistently provided to patients.

Maintain effective working relationships internal and external to the Trust including NHS and non-NHS organisations.

The post holder will be mainly office based and have contact with the public through a range of medium including face to face.

Assist in the maintenance of accurate patient information on the sexual health patient record system, including inputting of referrals, scanning in relevant documents and completing data quality checking.

Job Specific

Essential

  • Reception or customer care experience
  • Evidence of ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organisation both verbally and written
  • An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained at all times
  • The post holder will be expected to travel between clinic sites across Bournemouth, Weymouth and satellite clinics within the service in accordance with the Trust Travel Policy providing cross-cover where necessary.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of contraception and sexual health services or equivalent experience in an NHS provider service

Personal Qualities

Essential

  • Willingness to learn new or enhance skills
  • Be flexible and reliable
  • Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships as part of a team

Desirable

  • Positive interest in sexual health services, no personal objectives to the full range of sexual health services offered

Information Technology

Essential

  • Experience of using computer systems and good I.T knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience of using electronic patient information systems to book and manage appointments

Knowledge, Skills and Training

Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience required
