Job overview

Reporting to the Directorate General Manager, the post holder will be required to work across the Directorate to support the Management Team in the day to day operational running of the Birmingham Midland Eye Centre supporting the directorate in the strategic management of access targets, day to day operational management support

The post holder will have responsibilities for designated areas in which the post holder will maximise income potential and will support the management of resources to ensure efficient utilisation of these.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with the Group General Manager ensure that facilities are fully utilised across the Group and that performance expectations are met.
  • Liaise with Group General Manager (GGM), to ensure that key performance targets and access targets are delivered and action plans developed with the speciality and Directorate teams are then implemented for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • To work with the GGM in support of effective utilisation of resources and assist in project work as required
  • To provide management support to the GGM.
  • To provide site specific management support to City/Sandwell/Rowley Regis Hospitals.
  • To provide management support in the Trust’s demand and capacity analysis which will determine the level of services required to be provided by the Group in both outpatients and inpatients department.
  • Identify areas for service development, ensuring that the workforce and job roles reflect clinical requirements and the modernisation agenda within the NHS
  • Play an active role in helping ensure the Group meets the key Trust &Group objectives.

  • To assist the Group General Manager in implementing the vision and strategy for the Group.
  • To be highly visible and accessible on a day-to-day basis, liaising with full range of clinical and non-clinical staff, and assisting them to contribute to the overall strategic direction of services

To clarify and project manage service developments to ensure key targets are achieved and provide regular feedback.

To encourage a climate that allows front line staff to question and redefine how their work is undertaken ensuring the on-going development of a patient centred service, and cost effective use of resources.

To assist with implementing effective communication strategies to support planned organisational change.

To provide project management support, as directed by the Group General Manager, in line with Group’s plans, to ensure key targets are achieved.

To assist with the development and implementation of service pathways to improve standards of care, address governance issues, improve efficiency and tariff income.
