Job overview
Pam Sassoa Renal Planned Investigation Unit is predominantly a nurse led service with Medical support from the Nephrology and Surgical teams. Investigations/procedures carried out include but are not exclusive to: Renal biopsy; renal angiograms; dialysis access; minor day case surgery; Blood transfusions, Monoclonal antibody infusion; ongoing intravenous antimicrobial therapy and intravenous iron therapy and Pentamidine inhalation.
As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that our patients needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.
You will be expected to work alongside the other members of the senior team and the ward manager and collaborate with a team of nurses to deliver excellent nursing care for our patients.
Cannulation experience is desirable but not essesntial for this role are training will be orgainised.
Main duties of the job
This post is pivotal in providing visible nursing within the multi-professional team and you will have the responsibility to ensure that you can deliver care for our patients in a safe, effective, competent and holistic way.Maintaing a high standard of clinical work you will be responsible for:
- Preparing patients for surgical and interventional radiology procedures monitor patients post procedure as per nursing careplans and or Medical/ Surgical instructions
- Cannulate patients and perform phlebotomy duties on the relevant patients
- Be responsible for the safe admininistration of medication oral and intravenous
- Be responsible for the safe administration of Monoclonal Antibody Infusions using nursing careplans. Monitor patients throughout treatments using direct observations alongside monitoring vital signs.
- Facilitate the safe discharge of daycase patients with follow up appointments.
- Facilitate the safe transfer and handover of patients to the inpatient area for overnight observation
- Work alongside the senior nurses and wider MDT to ensure patient care is delivered safely effectively and in a timely manner.
