We are looking to recruit band 6, Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse, to our busy team, to help us achieve the best health outcomes for the babies, children, and young people of Hackney. This role is is based in Children's Outpatient Services.
Starlight Children’s Unit encompasses a general paediatric ward and outpatient services caring for children from 0-16 years of age with a variety of conditions.
Children are reviewed in children's outpatients by speciality clinicians in areas such as ENT, allergy, epilepsy, cardiology and surgery. You will have a close working relations with these clinicians, our clinical nurse specialists, service manager and other members of the MDT.
Our Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse and Clinical Practice Facilitator are available to support your development on a day-to-day basis and can provide opportunities for you to undertake trust development training focusing on areas such as leadership, undertaking appraisals or recruitment and interview technique
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
- To support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day running of OPD and in achieving team objectives.
- Uses clinical expertise and specialist knowledge base to work in a collaborative way to extend the role of nursing to meet the needs of children, parents and families.
- Act of role model to develop and encourage harmonious relationships and professional rapport within the department and with other disciplines, departments and external agencies.
- Working in conjunction with the Ward Manager and Practice Development nurse to ensure that nursing practice is of high standard, evidence based and clinically effective.
- To work in conjunction with members of the medical team in delivering the highest quality care to our patients.
- To act as a team leader for a given group of nurses within the ward. This will involve providing mentorship for them, undertaking appraisals and working with them to achieve their professional development goals.
