Children's Speech and Language Therapy

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team in Coventry. You will work with children and young people aged 0–19 years, supporting a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across a variety of settings. Our therapists work collaboratively with families, education settings and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The Children’s Speech & Language Therapy Team aims to provide a high quality service to children, young people and their families. We provide assessment, interventions, and advice to children and young people aged 0-19 with a Coventry GP. We also support children in Coventry special schools and specialist settings with an Education, Health & Care Plan. We have developed clinical pathways and a competency programme in Speech, Language, Voice , Stammering, Dysphagia, Deafness, Cleft Palate, Alternative & Augmentative Communication and young children “At Risk” of SLCN. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Role

As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist, you will:

  • Assess, plan and deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Work with other speech and language therapists and speech and language therapy assistants in the team.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, education staff and health professionals.
  • Work in a variety of settings across community, education and clinic.
  • Deliver training to support the wider children’s workforce.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and outcome measures.
  • Participate in service development activities and quality improvement projects.
  • Support less experienced colleagues, providing clinical supervision and mentoring.
  • Have service wide responsibilities.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Is registered with the HCPC.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Values collaborative working and is keen to learn and develop professionally.
  • Can work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a wider team.
