Job overview
The Team is a county-wide service made up of nurses and healthcare assistants based within special schools across Northamptonshire. We operate in both primary and secondary special school settings, delivering the Healthy Child Programme and supporting the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Our goal is to ensure that children and young people with additional healthcare needs can fully access their educational curriculum.
In addition, we provide a competency-based training programme to school teams, working in partnership with schools to meet the individual healthcare needs of their students.
We are seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic nurse to join our team in a permanent position. The successful candidate will work independently in various settings as part of our evolving and progressive service. They will be joining a team that values innovation, high standards of care, and collaborative working, and must be confident in working autonomously.
As a registered nurse, the post holder will be responsible for managing a designated caseload of schools. This includes developing individualised care plans, conducting clinical risk assessments, safeguarding children and young people in line with Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Board procedures, and supporting when required immunisation clinics. The role also involves mentoring others, providing clinical leadership, and working closely with partner agencies to ensure coordinated care.
