Job Title: Rhinology Research Fellow Start Date: 7th October 2026 Contract Type: Fixed term Duration: 12 months Purpose for Fixed Term: Training Contract

This contract is offered on a fixed-term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

The ENT department are looking to recruit a Rhinology Research Fellow into the team. The individual must be dynamic with a passion for research. The Rhinology Research Fellow (ST3/4 Registrar level) post commencing in October 2026 is suitable for candidates who wish to gain experience in basic science rhinological research, leading to publications and higher degree. There is also the potential to be involved in clinical trials, run through the unit. The ENT department has close links with the University of Southampton. The post will be affiliated to Rhinology with a well-established and active Upper Airway Research Group led by Professor Rami Salib.

Please note that this is primarily a research-oriented post (not post-CCT fellowship) with a very limited clinical component and not approved by the Royal Colleges for clinical training purposes. It is therefore not suitable for those looking for primarily clinical training or a post-CCT clinical Rhinology fellowship. It would be ideal for a person at the early part of their specialist training (ST3/4 equivalent) who wishes to consolidate and strengthen their CV, including publications, and attainment of a formal postgraduate research degree (MD/PhD) prior to applying for national ST3 rotations
