Senior Psychological Therapist/Psychologist – Future Focus Team Lead

Permanent position, Band 8a

Full time. 37.5 hours per week,

Future Focus is an innovative new service at the forefront of ‘At Risk Mental State’ treatments in Early Intervention (EI) Team. We have an exciting opportunity for a CBT Therapist or Psychologist to lead the team into new innovative ways of working.

Future Focus works with people between 14-35-years-old who may be ‘at risk’ of developing psychosis due to past trauma, adverse life events, and/or a family history of mental health difficulties. In leading the team, you will hold operational and clinical oversight of a team of 6, made up of Care Coordinators, Recovery Coordinator, Peer Support Worker and Psychological Therapists. You will carry out line management and ensure staff wellbeing and continual professional development are prioritised within the team. You will promote strong working relationships and a sense of psychological safety, prioritising inclusion and intersectionality needs.

Main duties of the job

• Provide specialist evidence based psychological therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies.
• Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities.
• Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements.
• To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area.
• Lead service development, supporting research and development activities.
• Provide operational management to those in the Future Focus team.
• Meet required clinical outcomes as identified nationally/ by commissioners.

You will be responsible for delivering Psychological Interventions, primarily CBT, to a small caseload of individuals between 14 – 35. You will also work with your own skilled supervisor have access to peer supervision and group skills sessions. We pride ourselves on shared knowledge, reciprocal learning, and continuing development in such a new and expanding field of mental health.

This role has great opportunities for those interested in service development projects, particularly in working with diverse communities and creating new ways to reduce inequalities to accessing healthcare. Future Focus is committed to co-production and hearing the voices of people who use our service in a meaningful way, you would have a meaningful leadership role in our innovative Co-Production Project.

The role is part of the Triumvirate Leadership of EIP and meaningfully contributes to the service development and achievement of high quality care across the service. The role also sits within the wider BDCT Snr Psychological/Psychology team and has the chance to be part of meaningful and innovative projects and research. You will also have the chance to network with wider ARMS forums, share ideas, promote good practice, and work towards national standard guidelines.
