We are looking for a proactive and motivated Outpatient Team Leader to join our busy NHS service. Main duties of the job

As a Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to your team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. You will oversee clinic management and regeneration processes, coordinate clinic rotas, and ensure outcome processes are completed accurately and efficiently. A key part of the role will also involve training and supporting staff, helping to maintain high standards and continuous improvement.

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. You will regularly communicate with patients and healthcare professionals via telephone and Microsoft Teams, so clear, professional, and compassionate communication is a must. You should be confident using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and be comfortable navigating a range of clinical systems.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accruracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
  • Ability to work independently whilst managing others in a team environment
  • Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
  • Attention to detail

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of outpatient policies and procedures

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Clerical / administrative experience, including filing and / or reception
  • Experience of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person
  • Line management experience of administrative staff in a healthcare or customer-facing environment, including supervision, performance monitoring and staff development.

Desirable

  • Line Management Experience
  • Previous NHS Experience
  • Experience of using a Patient Administration System
  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience, ideally within dermatology or cancer pathways.
  • Knowledge of RTT and other performance targets
  • Experience supporting urgent or cancer pathways (e.g., 2WW / fast-track) and understanding of MDT processes.
  • Knowledge of excel

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
  • Business and Administration Level 4 NVQ or equivalent experience
