Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support our Digital Team in delivering network infrastructure upgrades, including the removal and replacement of Cisco switches, upgrades to power equipment, and the installation of structured cabling.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure network and power infrastructure, including network racks, cabinets, and frames.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of structured cabling standards and topologies, including CAT6, CAT6A and fibre optic cabling.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of complex technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Carry out testing, commissioning and validation of network equipment to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Coordinate and support third-party supplier installations, ensuring work is completed to the required standard and signed off.
- Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation, including asset records, network diagrams and configuration information, to support effective network management.
- Work with the Cyber Security team to ensure all network designs, installations and changes comply with the Trust's cyber security policies, standards and best practice.
The post holder will provide technical expertise and advice to project teams, supporting project planning, resource forecasting, cost estimates, delivery timescales and business case development.
The successful candidate will lead Digital infrastructure projects, including Communications Room Remediation and Wi-Fi and wired network deployments, ensuring successful delivery across clinical and corporate environments with minimal service disruption.

- • Experience of taking a lead role in developing and implementing network related systems and services
- • Experience of dealing with customers face to face and on the telephone.
- • Relevant Information Technology service design, planning, development, deployment, operations and technical support experience.
Knowledge / Skills

- • Practical knowledge of Network maintenance and support
- • Ability to provide Engineer knowledge and advice within department and other organisations regarding technical environment.
- • Knowledge of deploying network hardware and software
