An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join the Fitzrovia Private Maternity Suite as a Band 7 Senior Midwife. As part of our growing private maternity service, you will help deliver outstanding, evidence-based personalised care in an environment defined by clinical excellence and an exceptional patient experience.
As a senior midwife, you will combine clinical practice with operational leadership. You will play a pivotal role in delivering expert midwifery care to women with diverse clinical needs, ensuring safe and individualised care. Working in close partnership with leading consultant obstetricians and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide continuity of care, support informed decision-making and deliver care that is responsive and maintains the highest standards of clinical governance and patient safety.

Main duties of the job
The Band 7 Senior Midwife is responsible for providing expert clinical care and visible leadership within the Fitzrovia Private Maternity Suite, ensuring the delivery of safe, personalised and evidence-based maternity care throughout the woman's journey.
The post holder will combine clinical expertise with operational and managerial responsibilities to support the effective day-to-day running of the service, promote high standards of professional practice, and deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Working collaboratively with consultant obstetricians and the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to workforce leadership, staff development, clinical governance, quality improvement and service development, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with Trust values, professional standards and the expectations of women and families choosing private maternity care.

Experience
Essential
- Significant midwifery experience across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal
- Substantial experience of teaching and mentoring more junior staff
Desirable
- Operational Management experience in acute hospital setting
- Experience of undertaking research
- Experience working within private maternity
- Managing formal and informal complaints through early intervention and effective communication
Communication
Essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Able to communicate sensitively and appropriately
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Excellent knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and incident reporting processes.
- Evidence of leading innovation or service redesign within maternity services.
- Advanced IT skills including competent use of Microsoft software (MS Teams, excel, powerpoint, word etc)
- Demonstrates effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to support staff wellbeing and creating a psychologically safe team culture.
- Confidence and professional integrity to constructively challenge unprofessional behaviour or conduct
- Highly developed customer service and relationship management skills, ensuring a consistently high-quality patient experience
- Able to challenge clinical decisions in the best interest of patients

- Willingness to undertake band 7 rotation across Maternity
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- Registered midwife
- Educated to Degree Level or working towards Masters
- Neonatal course or relevant experience
Desirable
- Leadership or Management Qualification
- PMA trained
- SSSA Trained
