This is an exciting opportunity to join the Haematology Team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. Applications are invited from efficient, motivated and suitably qualified individuals for the Band 4 Senior Medical Secretary position within the Haematology department in Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams.

You will undertake a wide-range of duties including receipt and distribution of mail, audio transcription, and the typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times.  You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisation skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work.  You must be able to work on your initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.

Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and E-mail coupled with proven secretarial skills and previous experience of medical terminology is essential.  You will be required to use the Health Board’s patient database system and other relevant IT packages.
