An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Respiratory Service at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust for an experienced and motivated Senior Medical Secretary to join our busy and supportive team. This role will also have leadership and cross cover responsibilities for Care of Elderly team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills who can provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to the Respiratory and Care of Elderly teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting service delivery while also demonstrating strong team leader capabilities to help coordinate workloads and support colleagues within the department.
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous medical secretarial experience, ideally within the NHS
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Possess excellent audio typing and IT skills
- Be highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Main duties of the job
- Providing secretarial/administration service to the Consultants and medical teams.
- Leading the team using initiative, experience and leadership skills.
- Accurately co-ordinating medical information to expedite the continuing care of patients.
- Taking responsibility for the successful organisation of the Secretarial/PA workload using time management, planning and organising skills, remaining calm when responding to changing priorities.
- Use initiative and maintain a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times without immediate access to line supervision.
