The Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Officer is a key role in the London Ambulance Service’s Internal Communications and Engagement team.     The role is focussed on supporting staff engagement and involvement with the Trust’s vision and strategy through the delivery of engaging, compelling and informative internal communications  and engagement activities in alignment with information governance guidelines, Trust brand identity and editorial guidelines.    The role will support the development and implementation of a content and channels strategy that puts employees, volunteers and patients at its heart, built on a robust channel mix that enables meaningful dialogue, is two-way, measurable and effective.    Working with our Channels and Content Manager, you will help manage, moderate and build confidence in our digital engagement channels, fostering a culture of conversation across our dispersed workforce and demonstrate how our social engagement platform can support great  team working – one of the key values of the Trust. You will suggest and imbed improvements to platforms based on feedback and data and work with suppliers on the development of platforms.    The postholder will lead on campaigns and initiatives across all internal channels from strategy planning through to delivery and evaluation. The post holder should be experienced in campaign planning, have excellent written and relationship management skills, be able to work to tight  deadlines and be highly organised, managing their own workload.    The postholder will have lead responsibility for increasing leadership visibility and engagement with staff and volunteers across operational and support services within the Trust, particularly via our digital channels. They will need to build trusted relationships with our senior leaders,  enabling them to engage more frequently and effectively with a range of colleagues and teams through our channels including virtual and face-to-face events and forums.    The Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Officer will also be required to brief and advise leaders and managers on internal communications techniques to support wider staff  engagement and communications, have strong presentation skills and be familiar with handling complex, sensitive or confidential information.

Main duties of the job

Create and implement a leadership visibility and engagement plan, consistently reviewing outcomes, improving and refining where needed.  • Work closely and collaboratively with our stakeholder team colleagues to ensure leadership visits and engagement activities maximise local opportunities to engage with both colleagues and wider stakeholders in London.  • Onboard, train and support operational and support colleagues in the use of our digital channels, demonstrating how they support their team and departmental goals.  • Provide trusted advice to internal stakeholders and guidance on all content aspects including, but not limited to: language, tone, messaging and publication effectiveness.  • Plan, deliver and evaluate internal campaigns and initiatives.   • Draft and edit content for use in publications, including news and information emails, digital posts, bulletins and newsletters to support projects as required.

Essential

  • Proven experience of delivering effective internal communications and engagement in a complex organisation including events management, stakeholder engagement, and successfully delivering campaigns and features.
  • Experience and evidence of achieving results in line with strategic aims and objectives.
  • Proven experience of developing, implementing and evaluating internal communications strategies / plans / activities.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrable and up-to-date experience of working in a fast paced, internal communications function.
  • Experience of handling complex, sensitive or challenging subject matters and proposing internal communications plans and strategies to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Understanding of media, PR / campaigns, digital design media, staff recognition programmes and the close alignment with internal communications and engagement
  • Experience of developing internal communication content and campaigns, crafting, curating and managing content, publishing to appropriate channels for audience groups, to ensure impactful internal communications activities.
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating campaigns and channels to ensure they are continuously fit for purpose and effective.
  • he ability to speak confidently, articulately and persuasively and use specialist knowledge to advise on internal communications and engagement approaches across a range of subject areas working with a range of audiences.
  • Proficiency with office software packages, digital communication channels, including expertise in creating presentations and processing documents.
  • Experience of working with senior organisational leaders and providing specialist internal communications and engagement advice.
  • Strong written skills, with the ability to work with and develop relationships with various stakeholders to deliver engaging internal communications for a range of audiences.

  • Educated to degree level in communications related field or, possessing an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.
  • Educated up to postgraduate level in communications related field or, possessing an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.
