Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker based at Ward 2, Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours:
2 posts at 34.50 hours per week
1 post at 23.00 hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
What you will do:
Ward 2 is a 30 bedded ward for older adults who require complex NHS care, palliative care or end of life care. You must have a genuine interest in the rehabilitation process and be pro-active in achieving best outcomes for our patients. Experience in providing care for older people is desirable but not essential. Good communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team are essential.
You should have excellent communication skills, have the enthusiasm and ability to provide therapeutic interventions to enhance the rehabilitation process by providing person centered goals and individual care for each patient.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:
- SVQ3 in Healthcare related subject and / or equivalent knowledge gained in a relevant area through experience
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Understand the role of the ward
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Awareness of relevant legislation, policies, standards, best practice statements, guidelines and capability frameworks
- Evidence of personal development and willingness to undertake appropriate training
